Child and Adolescent Service

Yianni and his walker

The Novita Children’s Services Child and Adolescent Service supports children living with physical disabilities aged between eight and 18 years, helping them to move, play, learn and really ‘connect with their worlds’.

The Child and Adolescent Service is made up of family service coordinators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, speech pathologists and allied health assistants, who provide a range of activities specifically for older children. The team works closely with families and carers to provide support, advice and solutions to challenges that may arise as children move into adulthood.

Where necessary, the Child and Adolescent Service links with Novita’s Equipment Service to ensure each child receives the most appropriate equipment for their needs.

What does the Child and Adolescent Service do?

The Child and Adolescent Service assists clients and families to plan services that meet their individual needs. The team provides information, training, support, intervention and networks in the following areas:

  • Participation - gaining satisfaction and enjoyment from joining in at home, school and in the community
  • Healthy living - looking after your body and mind
  • Independence - developing and learning skills for life
  • The future - planning and preparing for what lies ahead
  • Support for families - helping families in their journey to nurture and support their child
  • Support for the community – including information and training for school staff and developing partnerships with community groups to facilitate inclusion and participation.
