Recreation Program at Novita

Spoken by Senior Support Worker, Shay:

The recreaction program is a specialist school holiday and after school program for school-aged students living with a disability. My name's Shay, I'm the senior support worker for the recreation program here at Novita. We aim and encourage our participants to explore play in a safe and caring environment. So the kids get to do things like Animal Farm visits, swimming excursions, science experiments, cooking and arts & crafts. We also have an amazing facility with playgrounds, bike tracks, trampolines, nature play and a kitchen. Our activities are all based around our kids interests the way they like to play.

Spoken by Novita Client, Antonio:

I love doing fun stuff. I love the alpaca and the duck, I was holding it. And my favorite part is drawing.

Spoken by Senior Support Worker, Shay:

When developing a program, we have an understanding of the barriers that our families face when trying to access the community and accessing safe play environments for their kids.

Spoken by parent, Paul:

Hi, I'm Paul my son Antonio attends the rec program at Novita in the school holidays and he really loves it.

Spoken by Senior Support Worker, Shay:

Our program, creates those opportunities and allows kids the freedom to be themselves and exposes them to new experiences.

Spoken by parent, Paul:

It is good to have Antonio out the house, meeting new people and doing fun activities.

Spoken by Senior Support Worker, Shay:

When young people enter our program, we work alongside and build deep connections with the families, schools and therapists to work on their NDIS goals and ongoing development.

Spoken by parent, Paul:

We've noticed that Antonio has got out of the program is his forming relationships with other kids. And that's something that's been really important to us.
