We love the 2025 Adelaide Fringe! This year, many shows and events have disability and accessibility as a theme, so we thought it would be fun to share them with you.
About the Adelaide Fringe:
What is the Adelaide Fringe: The Adelaide Fringe is a world-renowned arts festival that takes place annually in Adelaide, Australia. The Fringe hosts a variety of shows including comedy, cabaret, circus and art exhibitions. Many of these shows are held at The Garden of Unearthly Delights and Gluttony, the two main locations of the Fringe.
When did the Adelaide Fringe start? The Adelaide Fringe began in 1960. It started when a group of independent artists performed on the fringe of the Adelaide International Festival of Arts. The artists wanted to create an open-access festival without curators.
How long does the Adelaide Fringe go for? The 2025 Adelaide Fringe runs for approximately one month from February to March.
When does the Adelaide Fringe begin? The 2025 Adelaide Fringe officially began on Friday 21 February.
When does the Adelaide Fringe finish? The 2025 Adelaide Fringe officially finishes on Sunday 23 March.
The 2025 Adelaide Fringe strives to be a fully accessible festival across all of its locations. The Fringe have created a fully accessible guide which lists all locations with accessibility features and shows that cater to sensory needs, hearing and vision impairments. Guide dogs and assistance animals are welcome at all venues that are open to the public.
How to book your ticket at Fringe:
All 2025 Adelaide Fringe Volunteers and Box Office staff are trained to support customers with access requirements and will be available at Fringe Corner Box Office during peak times to assist you. They can help you find the right show to suit your accessibility needs, or help you book your tickets.
If you have a NDIS plan that includes funding in your core budget for assistance with social and community participation, you can use this funding line for the appropriate support you require attending your chosen show.

Booking online
You can book tickets online at FringeTIX and add your accessibility requirements at checkout, which will be passed on to the venue. An optional access requirement info page can be downloaded for you to fill out and bring to the venues.
FringeTIX – Call Centre
You can book tickets over the phone by calling the priority accessibility booking line (08) 8100 2089. All FringeTIX staff are trained to provide assistance with access enquiries and requirements, including wheelchair and Companion Card bookings, as well as venue and show information.
You can contact FringeTIX through the National Relay Service on 133 677 then dial (08) 8100 2089 or via relayservice.com.au.
Box Office
You will be able to book tickets in-person at Fringe Corner Box Office, which features an accessible lowered counter, hearing loop and visual communication boards. This season, there will be an Auslan Interpreter from Deaf Connect at the Fringe Corner Box Office every Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
Ear Defenders are also available to hire for a fee of $5 from the Fringe Corner Box Office.
Using a Companion Card
Companion Card tickets are available to all shows in the 2025 Adelaide Fringe season. Companion Card holders are able to be issued with a Companion Card ticket in conjunction with a full price, concession, or other paid tickets. Check your eligibility and apply for one here.
Sensory spaces at the 2025 Adelaide Fringe:
SACARE Carers Lounge
Located on Rundle Road outside Gluttony, the SACARE Carers Lounge is a dedicated disability and sensory space catering to child and adult changing, feeding, and sensory needs. The area will feature a low sensory zone and changing place with a height adjustable change table and lifter. Free to all and open daily during the festival. The Carers Lounge will be close on days where temperatures exceed 40°C.

Show: Vistas and Visions of a Blind Man: Adventures in A ‘EYE’
Artist: Tony Doyle
Synopsis: Totally blind Covid poet Tony Doyle, who can’t read his own poems, uses an AI simulation of his voice to recite a selection of his poems, which will be interspersed with his ‘blind humour’ and live music from ‘Orchid’ a multi-instrumental music ensemble of talented musicians which has been created for this project and, includes a number of original pieces. It’s music which won’t blast your ears off.

Artist: Max Olman
Synopsis: Starring in their debut solo cabaret show, Max Olman shares heir unique perspective on their experience becoming disabled due to chronic illness during their teenage years. With a goal of allowing those living with disability of all ages to feel seen, heard, understood and celebrated, Max shares the good, the bad and the ugly of living with disability, with interesting anecdotes and original songs around each twist and turn. Max dreams of a world where disabled folk are treated with equity and kindness, so they developed SICK-STEEN to invite EVERYONE to exist in that world, even if it’s only for 60 minutes.

Artist: Comedy UnMasked, Zack Southern
Synopsis: Come see successful businessman*, inspirational speaker* and comedian Zack Southern as he uncovers secrets to business and talks about a topic close to his heart, HIS HEART. Zack talks about his lived experience with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and how it shaped his business acumen. He also got a Fringe grant, WHAT A BUSINESSMAN. CHD sufferers in their teens and adult life live with a hidden disability, but it’s always there and most times it will come back, control your life and knock you for six when it happens. An hour where you realise you can make good out of every situation life throws at you.

So, expect the unexpected (and some good laughs) as Em and Maddie solve ya problems, big or small. Everyday ableism? Ridiculous situationships? Housemate dramas? Out of control pets? And just how much is too much Taylor Swift?
