Program Summary

Language Launchpad supports early childhood educators to identify and provide targeted support for preschool children who would benefit from additional language and pre-literacy development.

Delivered by a Novita Speech Pathologist, the program combines educator training, small group intervention and coaching to build educator confidence while supporting children's language, communication and early literacy skills.

The program can be delivered face-to-face, online (telehealth) or hybrid (combined approach).

Language Launchpad includes 9 sessions over 11.5 hours, combining professional learning, targeted group sessions and implementation coaching.

Program Breakdown

  1. Observation (2 hours) 
    In-person or virtual consultation to identify children who would benefit from Tier 2 language support, establish educator goals and plan the group program.

     

  2. Regulation and Sensory Processing Training (90 minutes)
    Learn about:

    - Identifying children who require targeted language support

    - Evidence-informed strategies to support vocabulary, oral language and expressive language

    - Storytelling and phonological awareness

    - Planning and delivering engaging small group language sessions

    - Developing an implementation plan

     

  3. Small Group Language Sessions (6 × 1 hour)
    Six (6) targeted language groups delivered by a Speech Pathologist in partnership with educators, focusing on:

    - Listening for Language: vocabulary and oral language (2 sessions)

    - Expanding Language: expressive language and storytelling (2 sessions)

    - Success with Sounds: phonological awareness and early literacy (2 sessions)

    Educators are supported to progressively lead the sessions, with coaching and feedback provided throughout.

     

  4. Coaching and Sustainability Review (1.5 hours)
    Final coaching session to review educator confidence, discuss strategies for supporting families and develop a plan for educators to continue delivering Tier 2 language groups independently.
