A gift in your Will is a really special way to continue your support.
Over the years, bequests have allowed Novita to evolve and to meet the growing demand for our services.
Whether large or small, every gift is greatly valued because it will help make a real difference to kids living with disability, their families and carers.
It can be a daunting proposition to think of mortality and the importance of having a valid Will. However, having a valid Will is the only way to be sure that your wishes will be met.
A Will should be regularly updated and reviewed and stored safely with someone you trust.
When creating your Will, firstly provide for family and friends; and then consider whether you can also include a gift to Novita. Whether you’re writing a new Will or amending an existing one, including Novita is simple. A charitable bequest can take a variety of forms including:
Residuary – the remainder of an estate after specific gifts have been disbursed
Percentage – a percentage of either the residue or the entire estate
Pecuniary – a specific gift of cash
A specific asset – real estate, shares, bonds or other particular items of value
(Residuary and Percentage are the most beneficial forms of bequest as they hold their value over time).
Suggested wording for your Will
You can use the following wording to include Novita in your Will. Take it with you when you meet your solicitor.
“I give to Novita Children’s Services (ABN 53 137 537 636)
- The rest and residue of my Estate or
- __________________ percent of my Estate or
- __________________ percent of the residue of my estate or
- The sum of $ ____________________
for its general purposes free of all duties and taxes payable upon or in consequence of my death and I declare that the receipt of its Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executors for this bequest.”
Amending an existing Will
A codicil (amending an existing Will) is an extra clause which is added to your Will. If you already have a Will you can include a gift to Novita in a codicil without having to write your Will again from scratch. The codicil should be witnessed by two witnesses when you sign and date it.
