Here at Novita we love to celebrate our volunteers and Auxiliaries during National Volunteer Week, held from 8-14 May.
National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of volunteers throughout Australia.
Our Novita volunteers give not only their time and commitment but also their warm happy smiles to our staff, fellow volunteers and most importantly, our kids and teens.
Shout out to all the volunteers who help us out regularly at our Regency Park, St Marys and Parafield Gardens offices.
A big thank you also to those who have volunteered at a number of great events over the past year, including Woolworths Carols by Candlelight, our Adelaide Strikers Charity Match and our annual Mighty River Run and Golf Day, as well as a number of smaller events throughout SA.
Volunteer Profile: Ann-marie Caruana
This week we chatted to one of our dedicated volunteers, Ann-marie Caruana, about why she loves volunteering with Novita.
Ann-marie is the wife of Lawrie Caruana, who is the Captain of the Water for Novita’s Mighty River Run, and mother to Alice Nancarrow, who also volunteers for the Mighty River Run.
As well as giving their time, the Caruana and Nancarrow families also regularly fundraise for Novita at birthdays and small events.
How long have you been volunteering?
I’ve been volunteering with Novita for three years and fundraising for eleven years.
Why do you volunteer for Novita?
Mainly because we are blessed with six children and three grandchildren, and this is a way for us to give back to the community.
What is your favourite volunteering memory?
The Mighty River Run every year. It’s great to see all the hard work come together.
Would you recommend volunteering?
Yes, because it’s a great way to help in the community. I especially enjoy supporting children and young people.
What events have you volunteered at?
I’ve volunteered with the Mighty River Run and Novita’s annual Golf Day. I also help out the marketing team with administration.
